Services |
Our services include the following:
Routine prescriptionsWe dispense prescriptions to both NHS and private patients. Our computer system not only produces labels for medicines being dispensed, but also keeps a record of such items. It can also record details of any advice given to patients about their healthcare and lifestyle. The pharmacist can give you information about your medication and how to use it safely. Smoking Cessation ServiceIn conjunction with the local Health Authority, we offer a one-to-one smoking cessation programme designed to help you stop - once and for all! You must agree to commit yourself to attend between four and eight sessions over a 6 to 12 week period. Seasonal Flu Vaccination ServiceWe can provide the seasonal flu vaccination to customers who are concerned about flu. Please note this vaccination is not effective for swine flu. Anti-Coagulation ClinicPatients on anti-coagulant therapy will be monitored by the clinic. The pharmacist will adjust your warfarin dosage and supply you with more tablets if required. Monitored Dosage SystemsIf either yourself or someone you care for has problems remembering how or when to take prescribed medication, we may be able to help with a compliance device. This is usually a cassette or card filled with one week's supply of medicine, split into different times of the day for each day of the week. Please note, however, that such a device might not be suitable for all patients and potential candidates will need to be assessed before such an aid can be offered. You should also mention this to your G.P. Please ask your pharmacist for details. Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC)This is commonly known as the 'morning after pill'. Not strictly accurate! In fact, it is effective for up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse though we would stress that it is best used as soon as possible. We can provide EHC at the pharmacy during opening hours; no appointment is necessary. Unwanted MedicationsWe are happy for you to return all your unwanted and unused medications to us for safe disposal. We cannot, however, accept used 'sharps' (needles etc), though your G.P.'s practice will normally take these from you for destruction - please check with your surgery receptionist. Over The Counter ServiceWe stock a large range of products suitable for self-treatment of most common ailments as well as most types of vitamin and mineral products. Photographic ServiceWe offer a comprehensive photo processing service for both conventional film (black and white, colour or slides) and digital. Free replacement film is available. We can also provide a range of associated services such as reprints, enlargements and media transfer (eg loading photos onto CDs). Unfortunately, this is not a same-day service as we do not do on-site processing. Most services can, however, be completed and ready for collection within two days. We also take instant passport photos. Veterinary MedicinesNew legislation allows pharmacists to recommend, prescribe and sell veterinary medicines. You are now entitled to ask your vet for a prescription to be dispensed by your pharmacist, in much the same way a family doctor gives you a prescription; your vet is not allowed to charge you for this. You can then take advantage of the veterinary prescription dispensing service at this pharmacy. The Lipotrim Weight Loss ProgrammeThere are large numbers of overweight or even obese people, who have none of the problem medical conditions that require a doctor to treat their weight problem, who could benefit from the fast and reliable lipotrim weight loss programme. The strict Lipotrim weight loss programme is a professionally monitored programme available only from doctors and pharmacists. At Britcrown pharmacy we will assess your suitability for the highly successful Lipotrim diet and if you pass the screening we will supply you with the diet and information. You will lose around one stone per month on the lipotrim diet. Cholesterol Testing ServiceHigh blood cholesterol has been associated with hardening of the arteries, heart disease and a raised risk of death from heart attacks and strokes. Cholesterol testing is considered a routine part of preventive health care. At Britcrown Pharmacy we can test your blood cholesterol levels and refer you to your GP if necessary. We can advise you on simple changes to your life-style that will reduce your cholesterol levels and the risks associated with raised levels. Diabetes Testing ServiceThere are thousands of people with undiagnosed Type 2 diabetes in the UK. At Britcrown Pharmacy we offer a diabetes test to help identify your risk of developing the condition. We can advise you on ways of reducing your chances of developing diabetes later in life and offer guidance on leading a healthy lifestyle. Blood Pressure TestingAlthough high blood pressure affects 1 in 3 adults, it frequently has no symptoms. It can cause a heart attack or stroke. At Britcrown Pharmacy we can check your blood pressure, give you advice on lifestyle changes you can take to reduce your blood pressure and, if necessary, refer you to your doctor for further checks. Medication Usage ReviewIf you take regular medication and are worried about possible side-effects, drug interactions or if you just need to know whether you are taking your pills correctly, then ask our pharmacist for a personalised medicines usage review. The review will be conducted in our private consultation room and will be completely confidential. Allergy TestsAllergy is a widespread and affects approximatly 1 in 4 of the population in the UK at some point in their lives. A full clinical history will be taken, which includes the pharmacist discussing various aspects of your lifestyle. An allergy test may be performed, or if you would like the test, you can request one. The pharmacist will then offer you tailored advice & treatment to reduce / eliminate your symptoms.
